Spring Candy Sale 2024

Welcome to the annual candy sale! Scouts will be selling Van Wyk’s $2 candy bars. These products have a proven track record of success in fundraising.

Key Dates

  • February – Kickoff at Roundtable/District Social Events

  • Friday, February 18 – All orders due to council online

  • Wednesday & Thursday, March 13-14 – Distribution of boxes

  • Friday, March 15 – Sale begins Note: Booth sales start March 22nd at Safeway/Albertsons and Fred Meyer stores.

  • Re-stock inventory available by appointment with District Product Sale Chair

  • Sunday, April 28 – Sale ends

  • Friday, May 3 – Unit Settlement: Unit check or, if by credit card, a 3% processing Fee will be added

  • Saturday, May 11 – Commission DROPS 5% if account is not settled.

     

Steps to a Successful Sale

  1. Determine the camp programs your unit plans to participate in this year.
  2. Determine the number of active youth.
  3. Set an overall unit sales goal.
  4. Set a per-youth sales goal (number of boxes each Scout should sell).
  5. Communicate unit needs clearly with each youth and parent.
    – Explain how the Spring sale teaches youth the value of earning their way.
    – Explain where the unit plans to use the sales commission (i.e. camps, uniform, unit trailer, etc.)
  6. Communicate the timeline clearly with all youth and parents.
    – Communicate turn-in dates for money and unsold boxes of candy.

Scout Incentives

  • The top  seller in the council will be awarded $250 in Amazon gift cards, 2nd place $150 in Amazon gift cards, 3rd place $100 in Amazon gift cards and 4th and 5th place each $50 Amazon gift card. 

Keller Prize Program:

  • 50 different prizes for Scouts to choose from with many camping and outdoor items.

  • Brand name products like Lego, Swiss Army, Eureka, Carrera and official BSA gear.

  • Full-color brochure and website to explain each prize.

  • A total of 13 different prize levels so each Scout can set his own goal.

  • Prizes will be delivered directly to unit leaders through USPS or UPS. This will allow prizes to reach Scouts quickly.

  • Scouts who sell $1,200 in product will receive their choice of three additional prizes
